No need to arrive with a partner
Calling all beginner dancers, intermediate dancers, and dancer wannabes. If you’ve been dancing for years, or if you’ve got two left feet.
If you have a favorite partner, or are completely partnerless: We want you!
Come and learn America’s favorite social dance! Andrew and Stephanie Thigpen have danced, taught, and performed in ballrooms across the United States and Europe and are SO EXCITED to begin offering lessons for adults in Stillwater.
Swing dance is a social partner dance.
Lessons are designed to teach you to lead and follow each other on the dance floor. This is not a series of memorized choreography, rather a language of partnered dance moves which will allow you to communicate with any dance partner. We will rotate partners frequently throughout the lesson.
You will learn East Coast Swing and Charleston. The lessons are taught as a true social dance with frequent rotations of partners. By design people can participate even if they are single or don’t arrive with a partner.
Things to note:
- No Need to arrive with a partner, we rotate frequently throughout the lesson.
- These first five lessons are designed for adults, 21 and up.
- We are counting on feedback, and attendance to at least 4 of the 5 lessons is greatly appreciated.
- We hope to add a series for middle schoolers and high schoolers in the fall.
