Audition – Romeo & Juliet
How do two young lovers discover each other amidst the cynicism of rivaling families? Join us as romance echos in the gentle foothills of Verona Italy and tragedy sweeps over us all.
The Zephyr Theatre is casting their summer Shakespeare production of Romeo and Juliet. The production will be held outdoors in the St. Croix Valley/Stillwater area. Stillwater is approximately 30 minutes from Minneapolis/St. Paul. We encourage and would appreciate performers of all abilities, ethnicities, gender identities, and ages to audition. 15 roles are available, consisting of a mixture of Actors’ Equity and non-union actors.
All roles are paid. Non-Union: Stipends provided. Union: SPT Contract for AEA Members.

Please prepare a classic monologue, 2 minute maximum, as well as sides for your preferred role (which will be provided with your audition packet after signing up for an audition slot). If auditioning in person or via Zoom, you may be asked to read for other roles. Not required but if desired, you may also prepare a 1 minute contemporary/contrasting monologue. Please keep total audition submission under 6 minutes
IN-PERSON AUDITIONS: Will take place on Friday April 8th and Saturday April 9th from 5:00pm – 10:00pm at The Zephyr Theatre. Please use Sign-Up Genius to pick a time slot. An audition packet will be emailed to you prior to your arrival.
ZOOM AUDITIONS: Will take place on Friday, April 8th from 12:00pm – 4:00pm. Please use Sign-Up Genius to pick a time slot. An audition packet will be emailed to you with a link to the Zoom call.
VIDEO SUBMISSIONS: Can’t make it on April 8 or 9th?? No problem! Please submit a video audition on our Audition page on or before Thursday,April 7th, at 10:00pm. Please put the character you are auditioning for with a headshot, resume and a link to your video on Google Drive, Dropbox, YouTube, etc. Please do not attach video files. Video submission should consist of a classic comedic or dramatic monologue with your name and what role(s) you are interested in.
Callbacks : if needed, will be held Thursday, April 14th from 5:00pm – 10:00pm
Dates: May 24 – June 15, and generally run weekday evenings and weekend afternoons.
Dress/Tech rehearsals: June 11-15 and may include afternoon into evening rehearsals.
Location: OUTDOORS in the Stillwater area.
Dates: June 16-26.
