Last year, The Zephyr’s huge Ice Palace MAZE attracted a huge crowd — more than 30,000 visitors. They came to wander through the maze, pose for pics in front of ice sculptures, zip down the ice slide, and huddle around fire pits to eat s’mores. At least one wedding proposal was made — and accepted — in the unique setting.

The Zephyr Theatre is in the middle of chipping away at this frozen form of art, which is made up of 2,900 blocks of ice and will end up being around 775 thousand pounds of ice.

That impressive poundage belongs to this year’s ice palace maze at the Zephyr Theatre, which opens Jan. 15 and runs until Feb. 20. Weather permitting, the ice palace will remain open until the 28th.

The Stillwater City Council unanimously approved, 5-0, during its meeting on Dec. 7, closing parking lot 4 for the Water Street Inn to create the outdoor ice rink from Jan. 8 to Feb. 28.
